DUBAI, UAE – 27 June 2021 — As part of its annual Ramadan Books campaign in partnership with Emirates Red Crescent, McDonald’s UAE has announced that it has raised AED 320,000 by selling more than 60,000 children books during the Holy Month. The money raised will contribute towards supporting those in-need and feeds onto the brand’s commitment to give back to the communities it operates in. This year’s books addressed important topics in line with the spirit of Ramadan including bullying, open-mindedness, sportsmanship, and arrogance to help children understand the importance of actions and consequences.

“Our partnership with Emirates Red Crescent is of great value to us and we’re proud of the work we’ve done with them over the past few years especially when it comes to the Ramadan Books Campaign. Bringing families together through the act of reading is a rewarding sight and we look forward to continue working with Emirates Red Crescent to create more family moments as well as to raise awareness of key values and help educate our consumers to continuously promote a positive environment,” commented Walid Fakih, General Manager at McDonald’s UAE.

From his side, His Excellency Salem Al Rayes Al Ameri, Deputy Secretary-General for Local Affairs at Emirates Red Crescent said: “Throughout the past few years, we have seen some great results and accomplishments come out of our partnership with McDonald’s UAE. This Holy Month, we leveraged our efforts in supporting those in need by focusing on encouraging and educating the next generation through the essence of reading. We want to continue diversifying the community work that we have built and look forward to what the future hold.”
