The Wonder Women of MENA: Coca-Cola’s Sophie Norton

I will always remember the first time I was told, “I want you to decide the direction we’re going in on this project.” What followed was a rush of imposter syndrome, vulnerability, and fear. What if I choose wrong? Despite that internal uncertainty, I was fortunate to have a manager who trusted me, empowered me, and would have supported me even if my decision hadn’t been perfect. He became a coach—guiding, nudging, and challenging me to become a better marketeer and a better person. That experience shaped me, and throughout my career I have tried to offer the same belief and support to others.
My leadership is grounded in the conviction that putting people first ultimately drives performance. Sustainable success is created in environments where individuals feel respected, supported, and empowered—because without confidence, people cannot perform at their best. Kindness sits at the heart of how I lead, not as softness, but as strength. It shows up in empathetic listening, honest communication, and thoughtful action, particularly in challenging moments like those we are living through this week. Kindness builds trust, and trust enables teams to do their best work.
I am equally committed to inclusivity. I strive to create spaces where diverse perspectives are actively sought out and valued, because better decisions and stronger creativity emerge when people feel safe to contribute authentically. This means being mindful of power dynamics, challenging bias, and ensuring access to opportunity and growth for all. I lead with integrity and accountability—holding myself to the same standards I expect of others, and encouraging collaboration, shared ownership, and learning from both success and failure.
To the next generation of women, my advice is simple: trust your voice and take up space with confidence. Your perspective matters, even when it challenges the status quo. Seek mentors and allies who advocate for you, but don’t wait for permission to lead—every role is a leadership role. Support one another, stay curious, and define success on your own terms.
This philosophy is reflected in how I interpret “Give to Gain.” Real success is collective. The more time we invest in mentoring, empowering, and creating space for others, the more sustainable and powerful our shared growth becomes. Generosity of time, knowledge, and intent builds stronger individuals, teams, and cultures—and I feel incredibly fortunate to have been part of teams where I can now help shape others, just as previous leaders once shaped me.
