Spotify Turns Egypt’s Everyday Commute into a Moment Worth Listening To
Spotify’s latest campaign brings humour and familiar Egyptian commuting experiences together to show how music can change the mood of any journey.
From bumper-to-bumper traffic to crowded public transportation, commuting is an unavoidable part of everyday life in Egypt. While the journey isn’t always enjoyable, the right music can make all the difference.
That’s the idea behind Spotify’s latest campaign, “Spotify سكتك خضرا مع”, which draws inspiration from the familiar Egyptian expression “سكتك خضرا”, a wish for someone’s journey to go smoothly. The campaign gives the expression a playful twist, showing that while Spotify can’t change the traffic or the chaos of daily commuting, the right music can make the journey feel a whole lot better.

Built around a simple creative contrast between commuting with and without music, the campaign uses humour and relatable Egyptian scenarios to highlight how Spotify fits naturally into people’s everyday routines.
Familiar Journeys, Different Experiences
The campaign brings this idea to life through two locally inspired TVCs, each capturing a different side of Egypt’s daily commute.
The ad opens inside a family car, where a typical Egyptian family journey quickly descends into chaos, with overlapping conversations, lively debates, and everyone trying to have their say. But as soon as the music starts playing, the chaos gives way to a completely different scene, with the family dancing and enjoying the music together.
The ad opens inside a crowded public transportation vehicle, where a passenger finds himself surrounded by the escalating chaos of loud conversations, competing voices, and everyday frustrations. But when the music kicks in, the mood completely shifts, with the passenger tuning out the commotion and losing himself in the music, dancing along and enjoying the ride.
Both films build on the same simple insight: while Egyptians can’t always change the traffic, the crowds, or the journey ahead, music can change how they experience it. With Spotify’s wide variety of playlists to match different moods, listeners can find the right soundtrack for every journey.
“In Egypt, commuting is such a big part of everyday life, and it’s an experience almost everyone can relate to,” said Umar Achraf, Spotify’s Marketing Manager for Egypt. “We wanted to build a campaign around that shared reality, using humour and familiar situations to show how music can completely shift the mood of a journey. Whether you’re stuck in traffic with family or navigating a crowded ride home, Spotify gives you a way to make that time your own.”
Made for How Egypt Moves
The campaign also reflects how listening habits intersect with daily routines in Egypt. According to Spotify listening data from the past three months, 5–7 PM is the country’s peak weekday listening window, averaging nearly 40% more listening per hour than the daily average, with 6 PM marking the single busiest hour of the day.
The campaign rolls out across TV and social platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat, reaching listeners aged 18–45 across diverse demographics. By bringing the creative to the platforms and channels audiences engage with throughout their day, Spotify reinforces its role as a natural companion for everyday journeys.
Turning Everyday Moments into Something More
At its heart, the campaign is about finding enjoyment in moments that don’t always feel enjoyable. By drawing on familiar situations, local humour, and the shared experience of commuting in Egypt, Spotify shows how music can make even the most routine journey feel different.
Because while Spotify can’t change the traffic, it can change how the journey feels.
