Snapchatters can now access all the features of the flagship Samsung Galaxy S22 Series camera natively on Snapchat

Dubai, UAE, 22 April 2022: Snap has partnered with Samsung to bring Galaxy S22’s new camera features, including AI Autofocus, Night Mode, Portrait Video, Telephoto lens and Super HDR, to Snapchatters. This means Snapchat users can capture great photos and videos right from Snapchat, without having to use the Samsung camera app and then importing them. The Galaxy S22 and S22+ camera architecture is one of the most advanced in the market. It incorporates a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 50MP wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

The Low light mode in Snapchat enables Samsung S22 Series users to take images in low light conditions by tapping Snapchat’s moon icon. Meanwhile, the Telephoto lens in Snapchat allows Snapchatters to zoom in on far-away objects in their world-facing camera using the pinching gesture with their fingers. Snapchatters previously could not use this Samsung camera lens that lets users zoom in up to 100x. Additionally, the Ultra-wide angle in Snapchat enables Snapchat users to capture a wide-angle photo or video shot with the world-facing camera by tapping the 0.6x button above the capture button to use this feature.

Sami Khairalla, Country Director for the Mobile Division Samsung Electronics Saudi Arabia, said: “With the introduction of the Samsung camera exclusive features in partnership with Snapchat, we are delighted to bring our users advanced features they haven’t experienced before, and available directly in the native camera app. The new exclusive features like the nightography, camera stabilizer, and 100x space zoom provide Snapchatters with a unique experience to express themselves any time of the day and night and create awesome content that is seamless, fast, and fun. We promise an experience that will be second to none, together with our partners at Snapchat.”

Rasha El Ghoussaini, Head of Industry – Luxury, Auto, Tech and Travel- at Snap MENA said: “At its core, Snap is a camera company. The opportunity to leverage the most advanced camera platforms in the world drives our stated mission to improve the way people live and communicate through visual self-expression and storytelling. Samsung is incredibly popular with the Snapchat community, largely due to its powerful camera. Unlocking these new features brings great value to our mutual users.”

The partnership between Snapchat and Samsung brings together two global digital leaders. Samsung is the most popular smartphone brand in the Middle East and Africa region, with a 19.4% market share in 2021. Meanwhile, Snap’s camera is one of the most used cameras globally. More Snaps are taken than all digital photographs combined on any given day, regardless of the device or platform. Snapchat’s monthly addressable reach in the MENA region has grown substantially, now at more than 75 million unique Snapchatters, growing 33% year-over-year.
