UAE – A hundred years after Chevrolet created the first-ever truck, the brand is celebrating its legacy with the launch of its highly anticipated 2019 Silverado line-up across the Middle East, offering customers remarkable practicality, legendary off-road ability and comfort to appeal to varying lifestyle needs. Building on the Silverado’s iconic status as one of the region’s most loved pickup trucks, two new trims are due to arrive exclusively for the Middle East market this summer – the Silverado Trail Boss Regular-Cab and the Silverado RST Regular-Cab.
The most functional of any full-size truck, the 2019 Silverado is up to 204kg lighter than its predecessor and yet stronger and more capable than ever. The 2019 line-up features exceptional refinement without compromising on the Silverado’s hallmark off-road capability and all-around versatility.
Ahmed Soudodi, Head of Brand at Chevrolet Middle East and Africa commented: “The Chevrolet Silverado is a regional icon and the 2019 line-up brings further improvements to what is one of the most consummate full-size pickup trucks on the market today. Our year-on-year success is in no small part due to our loyal and growing regional customer base which we keep at the heart of our business, and so being able to offer to them through the Silverado Trail Boss and RST trims exclusively available for the Middle East makes us very excited.”
He continued: “For the 2019 Silverado, Chevrolet engineers melded the latest technology and the company’s truck knowhow that spans over a century, to produce a vehicle that delivers on its brand promise of ruggedness and reliability while offering a host of modern convenience and safety features that set it apart in its segment. We have no doubt that the Silverado nameplate will continue to remain a regional favorite when it comes to full-size trucks.”
Offered with five engine and transmission choices across the range, including new 5.3L and 6.2L V8 engines with industry-first Dynamic Fuel Management that actively shuts off any number of cylinders between Two and Eight, the 2019 Silverado offers unprecedented fuel economy in its class.
The 6.2L engine is paired with a new Hydra-Matic 10-speed automatic transmission, as well as start/stop technology to reduce fuel consumption for optimum performance and efficiency. Additionally, a modern 2.7L turbo charged I-4 engine will also be available in the region.
Regardless of which trim customers choose, what comes standard is the 2019 Silverado’s best-in-class cargo volume, irrespective of the bed length. In fact, the bed floor is nearly 178mm wider even in short-box models and offers 1784 liters of cargo volume.
To ensure the 2019 Silverado delivers on the varying needs and lifestyles of its customers, it uses a roll-formed, higher-strength and grade steel bed floor, with yield strength increased for optimal strength and mass. It also boasts 12 fixed tie-downs, with their strength doubling to 226kg of force before bending, making it one of the most sturdy trucks on the market. The upgraded tie-downs provide owners with unprecedented levels of confidence when it comes to load safety, enabling them to carry almost anything in their cargo bed.
Another first is the class-exclusive power up/down tailgate on the 2019 Silverado High Country that can be operated from the key fob, interior button or by hand, and overall it is 41mm longer, with up to a 100mm longer wheelbase, than the vehicle it replaces for greater practicality.
To ensure lightness, all exterior swing panels (doors, hood and tailgate) are made of aluminum, while fixed panels (fenders, roof and bed) are constructed from steel for added strength. The 2019 Silverado is also more aerodynamic than ever before, with the several design enhancements resulting in 7% greater aero efficiency over the outgoing model. Not only do these aero changes help conserve fuel, they also enhance refinement in the cabin by reducing wind noise.
Naturally, as a modern truck, safety was a paramount consideration for the 2019 Silverado engineers. Apart from the robust safety cage that is designed to keep occupants secure in the event of a collision, the 2019 Silverado features a number of standard and available active safety features that can forewarn the driver of an impending accident, or if equipped, even avoid it.
The 2019 Silverado also gets a host of connectivity and convenience features including the Chevrolet Infotainment 3.0 as standard on all trims, along with Apple CarPlay which allows users to connect a smart phone to make calls, send messages and stream music using natural voice commands. Also available are features such as Siri Eyes Free, wireless phone charging and a new connectivity feature that allows occupants to simultaneously connect two phones via Bluetooth.
Personalization is important to Chevrolet truck customers in the region, and our robust accessory offering, along with our wide range of trims, body styles, and engine choices, offer our customers an opportunity to build more than one million build combinations but one that is unique to them.
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado is now available across the region from a starting price of AED 106,800 MSRP* (2WD Work Truck), while the Middle East exclusive Regular Cab Trail Boss and RST variants will go on sale in the summer. Additional prices and specifications will be announced at a later date.
